LACONIA _ A half-mile section of Union Avenue was closed for a time Tuesday morning while police defused a situation in which a man was posing a threat to himself and officers.
A man called police and said he was going to harm himself, and then threatened officers when they arrived.
Police Chief Matt Canfield said the man was ultimately arrested without incident on a criminal threatening charge.
Officers set up a perimeter while working on the case and closed Union Avenue between Lakeport Square and Mechanic Street. Laurel Street was also closed in the area.
