A bench dedicated to first responders was unveiled in front of the Franklin Police Department on Wednesday afternoon. Trex, a composite decking company, sponsors local recycling programs aimed at reducing plastic waste. If a group can collect more than 1,000 pounds of soft film and packing plastics in a 12-month span, they will award a bench to the organization. The Franklin Falls Rotary Club collected 1,000 pounds in four months. The bench was brought out temporarily Wednesday for the ceremony, as nearby retaining walls are in need of repair before its installation in the spring. Mayor Desiree McLaughlin attended to offer her thanks to the first responders in attendance.
