A 40-year-old Campton man is due to appear in Laconia District Court this morning to answer charges that he tossed a woman out of his pickup truck here on Sunday afternoon. Kevin Small has been charged with "simple assault" and "obstructing the reporting of a crime" because police allege he placed his 29-year-old victim in a headlock to prevent her from calling police.
According to a police report, several witnesses called 911 with a report that truck drove to the shoulder of Parade Rd. — near Lexington Rd. — and then the driver has thrown his passenger into the ditch. Before officers could reach the site, a Belknap County Special Operations Group happened upon the woman and rendered assistance. She was later transported to Lakes Region General Hospital for treatment.
Witnesses reported the truck driving north on Parade Rd. and a Laconia police officer later stopped and arrested Small without incident.
Small was being held on $5,000 cash bail.
