LACONIA - Responding to a disturbance call, city police broke up an underage drinking party at 58 Warren Street in Ward 5 Friday night, charging nine area youths with unlawful possession of alcohol and intoxication.
Arrested were Albert Rama 17, of 72 Batcheder St.; David P. Morrill, 17, of 23 Liscomb Circle #2 in Gilford; Eric S. Caldon, 20, of Lyman Street; Andrew Decormier, 18, of 33 Sunshine Drive in Belmont; Robert Rama, 18, of 72 Batchelder St.; Sengphet T. Havonglasan, 17, of 26 Windemere Heights; and Donald J. Adams Jr., 18, of 13 Tiffany Road in Salem.
Police also arrested a 15- and a 16-year-old.
Lt. Christopher Adams said the department gets a $7,000 annual grant from the N.H. Department of Safety for the enforcement of underage drinking laws and two officers, Lt. Matt Canfield and Sgt. Gary Hubbard, were working that detail when the complaint came to police.
"It worked out good because if we had to take two patrol officers off of the streets it would have been tough," Adams said.
He said the grant pays for the salaries of the officers while they are on this special task force.
All of the youths took tests for alcohol ingestion and were released on personal recognizance bail to their parents or guardians.
Adams said there were no adults in the home near Lakes Region General Hospital and police are still investigating where the youths got the alcohol.
