Several anglers were fishing in the Winnipesaukee River in downtown Laconia on Tuesday morning. April 1 marks the first day of open-water fishing season, when catching salmon is permitted. Ricky “Coach" Caron and Bob Jodoin came from Manchester to fish for salmon. They often hunt and fish together, and say fishing is a way they can bond. “Friendship and fishing, very synonymous,” Caron said.
