GILFORD — The New Hampshire Marine Patrol has recovered the body of Domenic Tringale, 63, a fisherman from Chelmsford, Mass., from the waters of Lake Winnipesaukee.
Tringale's remains were found through the use of a side-sonar devise from the Maine Warden Service and by a team of N.H. Department of Fish and Game divers. The team made the recovery in 62-feet of water at 11:55 a.m. on Wednesday.
Teams from Marine Patrol, Fish and Game, the Maine Warden Service and the Laconia Fire Department, which used its own sonar Monday morning, have been searching for Tringale since his 17-foot boat was found circling off the east side of Governor's Island with only a dog aboard Saturday morning.
Marine Patrol officials said Tringale's family told them he usually left in the early morning on his boat to go fishing and would return around 9:30 or 10 a.m.
According to the Lowell Sun, Tringale was a widower with two adult sons.
A Marine Patrol sergeant said their supposition was that a steering cable could have snapped and pitched him into the water. The cause of the accident is still being investigated by Marine Patrol.
