The second season for Canal Street Block Parties kicked off Saturday afternoon downtown. About 200 people attended the block party throughout the day. While this attendance was expected for May, organizer Dan McLaughlin hopes turnout to be higher for upcoming events due to higher local as well as tourist traffic, and the additions of new businesses, activities and events. Block parties will be held the second Saturday of each month through August.
