A Laconia man didn't get too far after allegedly robbing the Cumberland Farms on Court Street on Saturday evening.

Police reports state that Officer Mike Finogle, along with K-9 Jago, were en route to the scene of the alleged crime, having just received the call of a robbery at knifepoint. Finogle spotted a man, later identified as Brandon Pestana, 20, of 132 Lakeside Ave, who was wearing a black bandana covering his face. An eye witness to the incident pointed to the suspect to identify him.

Reports state that when Finogle confronted Pestana, he drew his knife and threatened the officer. Finogle drew his weapon and challenged Pestana with Jago, at which he dropped his knife and was taken into custody.

Pestana wasn't done, though. While in the booking room, he is alleged to have attempted to assault two officers there, leading to further charges.

Pestana is being held at Belknap County Jail on $50,000 cash bail, and is scheduled to be arraigned today. He is charged with armed robbery, attempted assault, criminal threatening, and resisting arrest.
