Over 600 people enjoyed National Night Out at Opechee Park in Laconia on Thursday afternoon. Families took part in a touch-a-truck style event, with a New Hampshire National Guard Black Hawk helicopter being the star of the show. Laconia firetrucks, police vehicles and motorcycles, a Marine Patrol boat, and an armored SWAT vehicle from the Belknap Regional Special Operations Group were also parked and ready to explore. Winni Licks served ice cream. Other participating organizations included New Beginnings, Concord Hospital-Laconia's stroke program, Laconia Public Library, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Groups: Recover Together, The Doorway at Concord Hospital-Laconia and -Franklin, Navigating Recovery, Salvation Army, Lakes Region Community Services Family Resource Center, NH Elks Association, Partnership for Public Health, Medical Reserve Corps, Laconia Youth Alliance, Lakes Region Mental Health Center, CAP of Belknap-Merrimack Counties, and 104.9 Hawk FM.
