Kenton J. Juliano, 24, who was wanted by police for arson following fires that destroyed and damaged cars at 58 Belknap Street last month, was arrested yesterday.
According to a statement issued by police, detectives received information that Juliano was staying at 72 Gilford Avenue where he was taken into custody without incident around 1:15 p.m. yesterday.
Juliano is being held at the Belknap County jail on $300,000 cash bail and will be arraigned in Laconia District Court today.
Juliano allegedly set fire to two cars and tried to light a third in the early morning hours of March 24. Firefighters and police arrived to find a 1999 Toyota RAV4 engulfed in flames and a 1994 Ford Escort also burning. Authorities found indications of an attempt to set fire to a third vehicle. Juliano is charged with two counts of arson and one count of attempted arson.
Police said that although Juliano was quickly identified as a suspect in the fires, he could not be found where he was thought to be living. On Tuesday police issued a photograph and description of Juliano to the media and asked for the help of the public in finding him.
