GILFORD — The 15th annual Officer Kainen M. Flynn Memorial Fishing Derby will take place Saturday, June 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the pond at Gunstock Mountain Resort.
The event is open to all youngsters age 15 and under. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. There is no charge to participate. The derby is sponsored by the Gilford Police Relief Association.
Worms and other bait will be provided.
Flynn, an officer with the Gilford Police Department and an avid sportsman who loved the outdoors, died in June 2003, after falling from his boat on Lake Winnisquam doing what he loved — fishing.
During his time as an officer Flynn was very involved with Gilford youth, and would often volunteer his time with any type of youth-related program.
