Volunteer Carter Auger stocks items at The Salvation Army's new thrift store location during its opening day, Jan. 28. The new location, on Main Street across from Laconia High School, is twice as big as the space the store had to leave last year on New Salem Street. Capt. Chris West said hundreds of people visited the store during its first day, and he anticipates the proceeds from the store, which go directly into local services, will allow the service-oriented religious organization to double the programs they offer.
