7th Time of Prayer hosted on lawn of Laconia High School Sunday

LACONIA — Seven community churches will come together at 1 p.m., on Sunday, Aug. 30, for the 7th annual Time of Prayer on the front lawn of Laconia High School. Prayer will be invited in five areas: repentance, students and schools, first responders, young families, and mental health.

The public is invited to join for the hourlong worship.

It’s a positive and peaceful way to start the school year, said Shaun Dutile, pastor at Water’s Edge church.

“School comes every year,” he said, and being able to pray for the safety of students, staff, teachers and police officers in a public space provides a sense of security to the community.

Each of the five prayers will be led by a different pastor, who will pray for about three minutes before inviting the crowd to pray in smaller groups. Those groups will walk together around the school building, praying for students, teachers and staff along the way.

“Pastor Dick AuCoin, pastor of Lakes Region Vineyard Church, will open the gathering with a time of repentance. From there, pastors will pray specifically for students and schools, asking for revival among local youth and for wisdom and protection,” reads a press release.

Representatives from Lakes Region Vineyard Church, Water's Edge, Living Hope Lakeport, Fountain of Life Church, New Covenant Christian Church, Calvary Assembly of God and Real Life Church will be present.

The idea stems from a prayer group held for the City of Laconia by several pastors. Now, they’re focused on certain areas of society that need extra prayer, and believe schools fit that bill.

We will “pray over the community’s students, teachers and staff, part of an annual tradition that has grown into one of the area’s largest interchurch gatherings,” the release states.
