MOULTONBOROUGH — An 18-year-old driver from Rochester was charged following a hit-and-run crash with a motorcycle on Thursday afternoon.

Robert Lloyd Horne Jr. was charged with reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, leaving the scene of an accident, and reckless operation, according to a Moultonborough Police Department media statement.  

Police were notified at 4:05 p.m. Aug. 7, about a hit-and-run crash involving a vehicle and a motorcycle on Moultonboro Neck Road in the area of Lower Meadow Road. 

While en route to that location, officers learned the vehicle suspected to be involved in the wreck was seen driving southbound on Moultonboro Neck Road. Lt. Mark Cavic and Officer Christen Cloutier responded to the scene while other officers checked Moultonboro Neck Road for the suspected vehicle.

At 4:17 p.m., Chief Peter Beede located the vehicle involved in the accident driving southbound on Moultonboro Neck Road by Harbourside. Two minutes later, Beede stopped the vehicle on Long Island Road near Trexler’s Marina. After further investigation, Beede arrested and charged Horne.

Horne was transported to the Moultonborough Police Department where he was booked and then transported to the Carroll County jail, where he was released on bail. The operator of the motorcycle was injured, but refused transport to the hospital.

Beede did not return requests for information Friday.
