ALTON BAY — Police are investigating reports of shots fired on Alton Bay over the weekend and a State Police spokesperson said Monday a local man was arrested.

State Troopers were dispatched to the area of Echo Point boat launch at 4:34 p.m. Saturday in response to reported shots fired, a state press release says.

Christopher L. Johnson, 52, of Alton is charged with reckless conduct with a deadly weapon. Johnson was released on personal recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Laconia District Court on April 24.

Troopers and officers from Alton Police Department responded quickly on Saturday and identified the individuals involved in the reported incident immediately and rendered the scene safe.

There were no injuries and State Troopers say there’s no threat to the public.

The incident is under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has information that may assist the investigation is asked to contact Trooper Charles Brooks at 603-323-3333 or Charles.J.Brooks@dos.nh.gov.
