LACONIA — A resolution to New England Patriots safety Patrick Chung’s legal troubles stemming from his being charged last summer for cocaine possession appears to be in the works, according to a court filing.
Belknap County Attorney Andrew Livernois filed a motion asking that a disposition conference scheduled for Friday be postponed for about two weeks.
Chung was indicted in August for cocaine possession after police allegedly found the drug in his lakefront home in Meredith in June.
Police said they went to Chung’s home after a break-in alarm went off. Once inside the officers found evidence that led to the cocaine charge.
In asking for the continuation, Livernois said his office and Chung’s lawyer “are actively engaged in negotiations regarding a possible resolution of this case and anticipate the case is likely to be resolved within a matter of weeks.”
Superior Court Judge James D. O’Neill III granted the continuance which Livernois said had been agreed to by Chung’s attorney, Amy McNamee.
A trial in the case is scheduled for March.
