It didn’t take too long after The Night Agent‘s Season 3 premiere — less than a month — for Netflix to announce good news about its future. The Night Agent was renewed for Season 4, which will film in Los Angeles, on March 6. (Season 3 dropped on February 19.) But on May 4, the streaming service revealed some major news about its future.

The Gabriel Basso-led drama will be ending with Season 4. Netflix made that announcement the same day that production began in Los Angeles

“Ever since the initial success of The Night Agent, I’ve been obsessed with eventually delivering a proper and thrilling conclusion to the show and to Peter Sutherland’s journey,” creator, executive producer, and showrunner Shawn Ryan said. “I’m so grateful to Netflix and Sony Pictures Television for partnering with me on The Night Agent and for giving us the space to deliver a definitive final season to our worldwide legion of fans. We are hard at work to complete our story and to make our final season one our fans will never forget.”

Read on for everything we know so far about The Night Agent‘s future.

Has The Night Agent been renewed for Season 4?

Yes, it was on March 6, less than a month after Season 2 dropped (February 19) on Netflix. And two months after that, it was announced it will be the final season.

“It’s been a wild ride filming The Night Agent in five countries across three continents to this point and we’re so thrilled that the adventures of Peter Sutherland will continue into Season 4,” creator, executive producer, and showrunner Shawn Ryan said. “Our writers, our cast and our crew stand ready to answer the call to bring our incredible fans even more twists, turns and thrills.”

When will The Night Agent Season 4 premiere?

That will depend on when production begins. Season 1 was released on March 23, 2023, Season 2 on January 23, 2025, and Season 3 on February 19, 2026. It’s likely that Netflix would stick to around the same time, in winter/early spring, for The Night Agent Season 4.

Who will star in The Night Agent Season 4?

So far only Gabriel Basso is confirmed to return as Peter Sutherland.

A cast list has yet to be released, but Titus Welliver, Trevante Rhodes, Li Jun Li, and Elizabeth Lail were added as series regulars, Deadline reports on April 22. Netflix hasn’t released official character details yet, according to the outlet, Welliver is playing special DOJ prosecutor Duval, Rhodes is Peter’s new partner Dom and Li is his wife Min, and Lail is Peter’s ex-fiancée Zoe.

Additional series regulars in Season 3 were Louis Herthum, Stephen Moyer, Callum Vinson, David Lyons, Fola Evans-Akingbola, Jennifer Morrison, Albert Jones, Ward Horton, and Genesis Rodriguez were also series regulars for Season 3. Amanda Warren also returned. Suraj Sharma recurred. It’s impossible to know who might be back after that, beyond knowing Warren won’t be; Catherine was killed in Season 3.

Luciane Buchanan did not return for Season 3, but the door was left open, so it’s always possible we see Rose again in the future. And with Lail now playing Peter’s ex-fiancée, it’s either the perfect time to bring back Rose or a sign that the show could be moving away from her and Peter’s story.

What will The Night Agent Season 4 be about?

The series is based on Matthew Quirk’s novel. It follows Peter as he goes from being the one who answers the calls of Night Agents to being one himself. Season 3 ended with him planning to take some time off to recover (and possibly beyond that), but he was also very interested when he heard about a new partner, the identity of whom has not been revealed. Executive producer Shawn Ryan told TV Insider “it’s a character we’ve never met before.”

Also to be explored in a Season 4 is whether Peter can find a balance in his life. “Is there balance possible in this kind of life? That is discussed in Season 3, and I think Season 4 will partially be the exploration of whether that’s possible or not,” Ryan teased.

He added, “We’ve got great new characters that you’ve never seen before. We’ve got Peter in a world you haven’t seen before, and I’m excited.”
