Jinkies! The Scooby-Doo live-action series, officially named Scooby-Doo: Origins, has officially begun to film in Atlanta, Georgia.

The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Productions. Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg wrote the series and serve as showrunners via Midnight Radio.

Along with the filming news, a first-look photo was also released, which features the actors as Mystery Inc. In it, the four of teen sleuths are shown peeking out from behind a wooden door, which has a pawprint on it. Fans will have to wait to see what this version of Scooby-Doo looks like.

Here is everything we know about the upcoming series, which joins many iterations of the franchise, including three theatrical films and over a dozen animated shows, based on the characters created by Hanna-Barbera in 1960.

When does Scooby Doo: Origins premiere?

A premiere date has not been announced yet. Filming began on April 24 in Georgia.

Who is starring in the Scooby Doo: Origins series?

Maxwell Jenkins will play Fred Jones, the leader of the group and later boyfriend of Daphne Blake, according to a press release. Tanner Hagen will take up the role of  Norville “Shaggy” Rogers, the perpetually hungry best buddy and owner of Scooby-Doo. Abby Ryder Fortson (Are You There God? It’s Me Margaret, Carousel) will star as Velma Dinkley, the smart one.

Mckenna Grace (Regretting You, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping) was previously announced as Daphne Blake. This is not her first time playing the character. Grace voiced a young Daphne Blake in the 2020 film, Scoob!. She was set to voice the character in the sequel before it was scrapped.

Paul Walker Hauser (Black Bird, The Naked Gun) has been cast in the Scooby-Doo live-action series as a show regular. What’s on Netflix believes the actor to be Scooby’s original owner. This is a change-up from the previous iterations, as Shaggy was believed to have been the dog’s owner from birth.

Frank Welker is reportedly voicing Scooby-Doo, according to Nexus Point News. Over the last five decades, Welker has voiced both Fred and Scooby-Doo.
