Big Little Lies Season 3 may not be officially announced yet, but the show’s long-rumored return is getting some fresh insight from star Shailene Woodley, who memorably plays Jane Chapman in the show.

As viewers will recall, the once-limited series ran its second season back in 2019, and since then, fans have wondered where the story could take them next. When Woodley recently chatted with Deadline, she shared an update on the series’ potential return, as she said, “Supposedly, it is happening. That is what I know.”

Further details remain a mystery, but Woodley wasn’t past imagining where the show could take viewers, especially about ten years after the series debuted in 2017. Based on Liane Moriarty‘s book of the same name, the drama also starred Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Zoe Kravitz, and Laura Dern, alongside Woodley.

“Oh my gosh. I love my girls. That’s what makes it so special,” Woodley gushed to the outlet. “We’re each other’s people. We love each other, and we’re here for each other, and also, it’s a blast to play these characters. I’m really excited about the third season, and for the opportunity that might exist in exploring who these ladies are ten years later.”

Exploring these characters ten years later also means some major changes in their home lives, particularly when it comes to their children, who bound the women together as parents of students at the local school in their Monterey neighborhood. “We’re all 10 years older. The children are all 10 years older. They’re not really children anymore, and most of them are adults now,” Woodley pointed out. “So the prospect of that is very cool.”

In other words, the kids could be getting more caught up in the adult drama that would surely unfold in a third season. Stay tuned for further details as we await official confirmation on another chapter of Big Little Lies, and let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
