Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen are reuniting in New York City’s Times Square five months early to celebrate the United States’ 250th birthday.
The hosts and longtime friends, who traditionally co-host CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live each December, will return to NYC for an epic 4th of July celebration as part of CNN’s extensive The Fourth in America: Celebrating 250 programming.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the pair will present Independence Eve Live With Anderson & Andy: Celebrating 250, which will air on CNN from 8 p.m. ET/PT through 12:30 a.m. ET/PT, on Friday, July 3. With the help of special guests, Cooper and Cohen will count down to the United States’ semi-quincentennial with a unique midnight ball drop.
Throughout the night, the duo will be joined by “celebrated American icons, cultural legends, and inspiring everyday heroes whose stories reflect the spirit, resilience, and diversity of the United States.” Fellow CNN correspondents and reporters will also check in on Independence Day celebrations around the country.
In addition to Cooper and Cohen’s Independence Eve Live special, CNN will continue its coverage throughout July 4, with the National Mall in Washington, D.C., serving as the epicenter, including the Great American State Fair. Brianna Keilar and Laura Coates will be on hand to anchor special coverage at 12pm ET from the nation’s capital.
Then, at 6 pm ET/PT, Cooper will return to anchor from Boston alongside Pamela Brown. The pair will co-host the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular, featuring performances by Lainey Wilson, Chance the Rapper, and Trombone Shorty.
Dana Bash and Boris Sanchez will anchor primetime coverage from the National Mall, Sara Sidner and Victor Blackwell will host from the top of the Empire State Building, and Elex Michaelson and Cari Champion will present from San Diego at 11 pm ET/PT.
CNN’s Fourth in America: Celebrating 250 will also include performances from Charlie Puth and Josh Groban from Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida; Kane Brown from Cadott, Wisconis.; Goo Goo Dolls from the Venetian Resort Las Vegas; Maren Morris from the Majestic Theatre in Dallas; Rod Stewart from Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado; and Lil Wayne, AJR, Kool & the Gang, and Chaka Khan from BottleRock in Napa Valley, California.
