BELMONT — Shirley Patricia DeMontigny, passed away Oct. 24, 2026, shortly after being hospitalized for a stroke. She went peacefully.

She was born in 1937, to the late Keith and Geraldine (Bedore) Mengel.

Shirley was the mother of three daughters, Katherine (and husband John), Roberta (and husband Peter) and Mary Lynn (and her husband Marc). She had six grandchildren, Ethan, Megan, Laura, Kyle, Benjamin and Casey, and two great-grandchildren, Jacqueline and Rafael. She also leaves a sister, Jo-Ann, and a brother, George.

Shirley enjoyed a lifetime of travel, and expanding her knowledge of history, geography, literature and general info that made her a fierce opponent in any trivia challenge.

She will be missed by family and friends.

Thank you so much to the ICU staff at Concord Hospital in Laconia, and to the Belmont EMT team that responded to the call.

A private graveside service will be held in Otis, Massachusetts, in early spring 2027.
