GILFORD — Robert L. Pelland, 89, passed away Sept. 30, 2025, at the Jack Byrne Center, Lebanon, after a period of declining health.

He was born Sept. 11, 1936, in Lowell, Massachusetts, the son of Lionel and Beatrice (née Gregoire) Pelland.

Bob attended school in Lowell, Massachusetts, and culinary school in Boston, Massachusetts.

Mr. Pelland was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict and served as a sergeant in the Far East. He was an assistant administrator for 18 years with a municipal hospital in Peabody, Massachusetts, before moving to the Lakes Region of New Hampshire in 1989. At that time he worked for the Town of Moultonborough as a food service director and later took a position with the Department of Corrections in the food service department. After being retired a short time, he went back to work at the Huot Technical Center assisting and teaching his skills in the art of culinary to the young adults there.

He was a communicant of St. Andre Bessette Parish and a member of the Elks.

Bob and his wife Charlene shared a true bond of friendship and love during their 45 years of marriage. They enjoyed country music, dancing, boating, motorcycling and extensive traveling to all parts of the world.

His family includes his wife Charlene; daughters Darlene V. Riley of Derry, Michelle (Michael) Merrill of Meredith; a son, Derek (Patricia) Marcella of Gilford; eight grandchildren, Sean (Lauren) Riley, Brian (Courtney) Riley, Marissa Merrill, Maitlend Merrill, MyKyle Merrill, Brooke Sheedy, Kaitlyn Shepard and Vincent Marcella; 10 great-grandchildren and a niece.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Gerard and Andre Pelland, and a grandson, Makayden.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 6, in the Carriage House at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the St. Andre Bessette Parish - Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Ave., Laconia.

Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Gilford.
