GILFORD — Richard R. Adams, 71, of 12 Breton Woods, Gilford, died early Monday morning, February 16, 2009, at the Genesis Eldercare — Laconia Center, Laconia.

He was born February 20, 1937, in Lakeport, the son of the late Raymond and Mildred G. (Blake) Adams. He was a graduate of Laconia high School and was a life long resident of the Laconia/Gilford area.

Prior to his retirement, he had been employed at the Barbery Mills, Lakeport, as a shipper and truck driver. He later worked at the Laconia State School and as a custodian for the 1st NH Bank. He was also the owner of Fonzi's Carpet Cleaning Service for several years.

Dick was a parishoner of Our Lady of the Lakes Church, Lakeport, and also volunteered at the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

He is survived by a son, Marc R. Adams of Berlin; a daughter, Mary L. Runkle of PA; grandchildren, Ian Clough of Belmont, Nicole Adams, Jessica Adams and Pamela Adams all of Berlin, and Louanne Deblois of Lakeport; a great granddaughter; brothers, Roland A. Adams of Tilton and D. Raymond Adams of Meredith; a sister, Mary Hart of Concord; several nieces and nephews. he was predeceased by a sister, Marjorie Weydeman of Barnstead and a brother, Stephen Adams of Lakeport.

There are no calling hours. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 21, 2009, at 11 am in Our Lady of the Lakes Church, 50 Washington St., Lakeport. Entombment will be in Union Cemetery to await burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of the Lakes Church, 50 Washington St., Lakeport, NH 03246.

The Dewhirst Funeral Home, 1061 Union Ave., Laconia, is in charge of the arrangements.
