MOULTONBOROUGH — Richard Harry McLernon, 84, of Moultonborough, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2014 at Lakes Region General Hospital, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Melrose, Mass., on October 31, 1930, Richard was the son of Harry A. and Theresa (Connor) McLernon. Richard graduated from Emerson College, in Boston, and served in the Navy aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt in the early 1950s.

He worked in the hospitality trade at Mount Snow, in Stowe, Vt., for many years and later became a sales representative for T.F. Kinnealey Meat Company, of Boston, servicing the Lakes Region and parts of Vermont. He loved jazz and big band music and hosted the local Sunday morning radio program "Breakfast with the Bands" for many years.

Richard is survived by his beloved friend and companion of 34 years, Joanne Cram, of Moultonborough; his sister, Patricia Schlitter, of Pepperell, Mass.; his former wife, Barbara (McLean) McLernon, of Aspen, Colo.; his three sons, R. Scot McLernon and wife Suzanne and family, of Aptos, Calif., Kyle McLernon, of Aspen, Colo., and Corey McLernon and wife Patricia, and family, of Aspen, Colo.

Richard's family wishes to extend many thanks to friends, caregivers, hospital staff, and the community for helping Richard along his final journey.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
