LACONIA — Roger G. Persons, 87, of 102 Hillcrest Drive, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, on Wednesday, October 20, 2010.
Mr. Persons was born July 14, 1923 in Calais, Vermont, the son of Van L. and Ida L. (Gray) Persons.
Mr. Persons had been a resident of Laconia since 1924. He served in the U. S. Air Force during WWII and had been employed at New England Tel. & Tel. Co. for forty years before retiring in 1981.
Mr. Persons was a member of the Laconia Lodge of Elks No. 876, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Laconia Post No. 1670, the American Legion Wilkins-Smith Post No. 1 and the Telephone Pioneers.
Mr. Persons travelled cross country. He enjoyed his family, haying, snowmobiling and skiing.
Mr. Persons is survived by his wife, Evelyn L. (Landry) Persons, of Laconia; a son, Michael G. Persons, and his wife, Jody, of Warren, Rhode Island; four grandchildren, Bethany Reuschoff and her husband, Jeff, of Williamsburg, Virginia, Brittany Persons, Benjamin Persons and Brendan Persons all of Warren, Rhode Island; a brother, N. Richard Persons, of Gilford, N. H.; a sister, Elaine K. Swanson, of Williamsburg, Virginia and several nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents, Mr. Persons was predeceased by a brother, Winston L. Persons, in 1999.
Private Family calling hours will be held.
A Funeral Service for family and friends will be held on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at 1 p.m. in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N. H. Private Family Burial will be held in the family lot in Bayside Cemetery, Laconia, N.H.
