Peggy Mitchell Tyer of Bedford, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on March 16, surrounded by her family. She was 82.Â
Peggy was born on March 9, 1942, and raised in Laconia. She later attended Emerson College in Boston where she met her husband of 46 years, Vincent. Peggy raised two sons, Vince (Ty) and Todd.
In her younger years Peggy was an avid water skier, skier and writer. After graduation, she began her career in radio broadcasting. In addition to a later successful career with Mitre, Wayside Florist and Plastic Design, Peggy still found time to volunteer for years at Emerson Hospital.Â
She loved Cape Cod — in the summers with her seven grandchildren and quiet winter weekends with her husband Vince, poking around shops and reading. A proud member of the Laconia High School class of 1960, Peggy loved attending their monthly luncheons as often as she could.
Peggy was predeceased by her loving husband Vincent Downey Tyer Jr. on Nov. 20, 2012.
She is survived by her sons Vincent and Todd, her daughters-in-law Jennifer and Amy Tyer; her seven grandchildren, Caitlin, Sean, Kerry, Michael, Marilyn, James and Casey; her brother and his family, Warren Mitchell, his wife Janet and her nieces Carrington Pearson, her husband Jeff, and Jennifer Mitchell.
Peggy will be laid to rest at a private family service.
