NOTTINGHAM — Noel C. Carlson, 56, of Nottingham, N.H. passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Wentworth Douglass Hospital surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born December 19, 1958 in Plymouth, N.H., Noel was the son of the late Paul E. and Marilyn (Braley) Carlson. Noel was raised in Alexandria, N.H. He worked as the Pharmacy Technical Supervisor at Concord Hospital where he met his wife Wendy. They moved to Durham where he graduated from UNH with a BS and then a MS in Natural Resources/Marine Biological Restoration in 1996. He worked for 22 years at UNH in New Castle, N.H. first as the manager of the Coastal Marine Lab, then later as manager of the Judd Gregg Marine Research Complex and Pier Support Facility.

Noel enjoyed spending time outdoors. He was happy when he was fishing, hunting, and camping with family and friends Dan Peterson and Rich Mayer, or at home gardening, keeping chickens, and making maple syrup, or out in the woods cutting firewood and collecting wild mushrooms for one of his wonderful culinary dishes. He taught courses for a few years at UNH in SCUBA Diving and Identification of Trees and Shrubs. Noel loved to sing and enjoyed using his beautiful voice as a member of the worship team at his church.

Noel was a wonderful, loving husband and father and a caring friend to many. He will be greatly missed.

Noel leaves behind his wife of over 28 years, Wendy A. Carlson and his son Jesse D. Carlson and daughter Hannah E. Carlson all of Nottingham; the parents who raised him, Carol Bergh and Elmer Braley, siblings, twin brother Daryl Carlson, and brothers Christopher Braley, Alec Braley and Robert Carlson, and sisters Ruth Kimball, Arlene Carlson, Deborah Baese, Suzanne Lull, and Louise Holmburg.
