LACONIA — Michael Alan Zawacki, 70, of Union Avenue, passed away on Oct. 18, 2025, at home.
Michael was born on Sept. 4, 1955, in Chelsea, Massachusetts, the son of the late Edwin Zawacki and Vivian (Bragg) Zawacki.
Michael worked as a machinist at various locations in New England until 2006, when he retired after being diagnosed with lung cancer. He then pursued higher education and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
Michael loved being outdoors. He enjoyed hiking, canoeing, fishing, camping, bird watching and taking photos. You could always catch him listening to classic rock, especially Pink Floyd. Michael also loved the New England Patriots. Michael was an active serving AA member for over 34 years. He loved attending meetings and helping others in the group. Michael always wanted to support and see others be successful. Most importantly he loved spending time with his family, especially his daughters and granddaughters.
Michael is survived by his daughters, Michelle Zawacki and her partner Daniel of Methuen, Massachusetts, and Jennifer Forgione of Gloucester, Massachusetts; sisters Judith Lover and her husband Richard, and Paula Whitney and her husband Wayne; brothers Edwin “Eddie” Zawacki Jr. and his wife Linda, Bruce Zawacki and his wife Deborah, and Daniel Zawacki; grandchildren Rosie Vokey and Poppy Vokey; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Michael is predeceased by his sister-in-law, Diane Zawacki.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
