COLEBROOK — Maurice P. Bunker Jr., 80, of Colebrook passed away at his home on Jan. 27, 2025. He was born in Concord, on Dec. 10, 1944, a son to the late Maurice P. and Elsie (née Kenerson) Bunker Sr.

When he was a teenager, Maurice took his head of cattle and his first tractor and went to live with his grandparents in Amesbury, Massachusetts, to be of help to them. He was a 1963 graduate of Amesbury High School. Maurice worked for a time at a ball bearing factory in Laconia where he met the love of his life, Sally Clough. After their marriage, he later worked in the construction and concrete industry. In 1977, they moved to Colebrook, where they made a life on their small farm. Maurice went to work for the Colebrook Elementary School where he was a long-time custodian and from where he retired.

Maurice loved to be outdoors and was very proud of his large sugar orchard. He loved to tend to his garden and his beloved Irish Dexter cows, to be busy cutting wood or working with his bulldozer. He and Sally were also known to love to go out dancing and would often be seen at the Colebrook Country Club or the Northland, and other venues featuring the music they loved.

He is survived by his daughter, Paula Walling of Brunswick, Vermont; a stepson, Peter Amatuzzo of St. Petersburg, Florida; two grandsons, Kyle (Jessica) and Patrick (Marcy) Walling; a sister, Cynthia Bunker of Peterborough; and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Bunker of New York. He is preceded by his beloved wife of 54 years, Sally (née Clough) Bunker in 2022, and a brother, Hollis.

There are no public calling hours. A graveside interment service for both Mr. and Mrs. Bunker will be held at a later date in the Colebrook Village Cemetery, of which notice will be given.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mr. Bunker may be made to the Coos Animal Sanctuary, P.O. Box 345, Colebrook, NH 03576. Condolences may be offered to the family online by going to jenkinsnewman.com.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook.

Sad to hear of his passing. We worked together at NHBB and became friends back when he got his first house in Northfield. He was involved with trying to start a ski area. After not seeing or hearing from him in years we found out he was in my wife’s hometown Colebrook and we visited him and Sally. Our best to his family. Rick & Rosalie Nelson White River Jct.
