GILFORD — Marsden C. Hutchins, 82, of 340 Hoyt Rd., Gilford, died late Saturday evening, June 4, 2005, at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia. He was born July 30, 1922, in Masardis, Maine, the son of the late Herbert A. and Myra (Robinson) Hutchins. He was a graduate of the University of Maine Orono, receiving a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the 960th Army Ordinance Heavy Automotive Maintenance Company. He was stationed in the European Theatre and the Ardennes.
He had been a resident of Gilford since 1970, coming from Boundbrook, N.J. He was retired as the vice president of Quin-T Corp. of Tilton, in 1989.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he was currently serving as Communion Steward. He was also a member of the Gunstock Travelers Camping Group, the Quarter Century Club of Quin-T, and he was also an avid gardener.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marian E. (Lawrence) Hutchins of Gilford; two sons, Mark A. Hutchins of Gold Canyon, Ariz., and David L. Hutchins of Tilton; two grandchildren, Tifianey Nicoli of Walden, N.Y. and Timothy Hutchins of Gold Canyon, Ariz.; four great grandchildren; a brother, Keith Hutchins of Franklin, Maine; four sisters, Sybil Freeman of San Antonio, Texas, Glenna Cornet and Ellen Shorey, both of Orono, Maine, and Virginia Weston of Akron, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Friday, June 10, 2005, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Dewhirst Funeral Home, 1061 Union Ave., Laconia, with services following immediately afterwards at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Victoria Wood-Parrish, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Baysdie Cemetery, Laconia.
