Marie B. Abbott, 87

LACONIA — Marie Barbara (Amadon) Abbott, 87, of Laconia, passed away peacefully on Aug. 8, 2025, in Laconia, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on July 31, 1938, Marie was the daughter of Kenneth Amadon and Madeline (Moulton) Amadon. She grew up in a large and loving family alongside her siblings, cherishing the bonds that shaped her life. Marie’s proudest role was being a grandmother — a title she carried with deep joy, love, and devotion.

Marie’s life was filled with simple pleasures and treasured moments. She loved playing Bingo, dancing at the Rod & Gun Club, caring for animals, and spending time with her family. Her generosity, kindness, and resilience touched everyone who knew her. Whether she was sharing a warm hug, a laugh, or a quiet conversation, Marie had a gift for making people feel loved and valued.

She is survived by her brother, Clarence Amadon; sister Edith Hilliard; her daughters, Carol Paquin, Tina Green (husband Mike Green) and Tammy Abbott (significant other Tony Whittier); six grandchildren, Tracey, David, Raunie, Frank, Heather and Nick; 12 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Harry Amadon and Kenneth Amadon Jr.; and sisters Francis Dearborn and Rita Johnson.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to neighbors Julie and Kenny for their kind help and support, as well as to Dale Robinson for watching over Marie and lending a hand when needed. Special appreciation is also given to the Granite VNA Hospice team for their compassionate care during her final days.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, in the Carriage House at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., on Saturday, Aug. 23, also at the funeral home.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at Bayside Cemetery, Union Avenue.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Hampshire Humane Society, P.O. Box 572, Laconia, NH 03247, in honor of Marie’s great love for animals.
