MEREDITH — Jon A. Covell, 70, of Solace Point Road, passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 21, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. He was born Nov. 14, 1954, in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, to Maurice and Geraldine (Stone) Covell.
Jon spent 37 years with Granite State Glass, where he built lasting friendships and retired in 2021 as vice president of the commercial division. He was proud of his work and the team he was part of.
Outside of work, Jon found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He walked every day with his faithful dog, Teddy, no matter the weather. He loved to fish, to travel, and had a love for food. He also had a knack for tools and gadgets — always curious, always learning, and always tinkering with something new.
Jon’s faith as one of Jehovah's Witnesses was central to his life, and he lived it with kindness and generosity. He had a heart of gold, always looking for ways to help — whether snow blowing a neighbor’s driveway, lending a hand with a project, or sharing his tools to make someone else’s work easier. Those who knew him will remember his warmth, compassion, and selflessness. His big smile was contagious, and his genuine nature instantly created a bond of friendship. Even during his struggles, he always remained positive.
Jon is survived by his brother, Mark Covell and Diane Covell of Clayton, North Carolina; his sister, Marian Mitchell and Scott Ewing of Hooksett; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother David Covell, and by his beloved wife, Bonnie (Jones) Covell, with whom he shared a deep and loving bond.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 10 E. Holderness Road, Holderness. ZOOM Meeting ID: 846 1514 1134, Passcode: 10182025.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Golden View Health Care Center, Granite VNA, and friends and neighbors who surrounded Jon with love, support, and kindness throughout his final days.
