GILMANTON — Janice Ann Burns, 83, of Gilmanton, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Jan. 31, 2026.

Janice was born on Jan. 19, 1943, in Ogdensburg, New York, the daughter of Horace and Florence (Duquette) Rickett.

Janice was “The Oldest and The Best” child, with four brothers and two sisters, whom she loved with all her heart.

Janice will always be remembered as the “life of the party.” She enjoyed dancing, traveling, going to concerts and spending time with her soulmate Michael at their beloved camp on Stump Pond, and home in Florida.

Janice was a retired registered nurse with a special love for hospice care.

Janice is survived by her sons Mark Burns and John Burns; daughter Betsy Livingston and her husband Shawn; and three grandchildren, Jack Burns, Connor Livingston and Liam Livingston. She is also survived by her siblings Gary Rickett, Jon Rickett, Jeff Rickett, Debby Piercey and Greg Rickett. In addition to her parents, Janice is predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, Michael Burns, who passed away on Nov. 1, 2025, and her sister Darlene Mitchell.

Janice will be interred with her husband Michael at a later date at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the Lakes Region VNA Hospice team who supported Janice and her family during her journey.
