FRANKLIN — Frances JoAnn Buczynski, 86, a longtime resident of Woodrow Avenue in Franklin died Friday, March 26, 2004 at the Genesis Elder Care Center in Laconia following a period of failing health. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts July 26, 1917, daughter of John and Anne Hanson Leaver.

Frances lived in Tilton for several years before moving to Franklin where she resided for over 43 years. She worked for several years as a chef at the former Howard Johnson’s in Boscawen, then worked at the former Tilton Tannery in Tilton and later worked for over 18 years in the housekeeping department at Franklin Regional Hospital in Franklin. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Franklin.

Frances was predeceased by her husband, Walter "Pete" Buczynski, who died August 31, 1999. Her family includes, her daughter and son in law, JoAnn H. and James Cowan of Laconia; two granddaughters, Tammy M. Royea of South Tamworth and Lesa A. Collins of South Tamworth; one grandson, Thomas Byers of Franklin; six great-grandchildren; one great, great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Monday, March 29, 2004 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Franklin-Tilton Road in Tilton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, March 30 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Franklin. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Franklin later in the spring.

The William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home of Tilton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Expressions of Sympathy may be made in Frances’ name to the Activities Fund, Genesis ElderCare-Laconia Center at 175 Blueberry Lane, Laconia, New Hampshire 03246.
