Floyd Harold Colby Jr., 88, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026. Born on March 19, 1938, in Groton, Floyd lived a full and dedicated life centered around family, hard work, sports and the outdoors.

Floyd graduated from Plymouth High School and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps beginning in 1955, dedicating four years to his country. Following his service, he built a long and respected career at IPC, where he worked from 1959, until his retirement in 1985.

In 1962, Floyd married the love of his life, Terry (Wood) Colby, and together they shared 64 years of marriage filled with devotion and family. He made his home in Alexandria, where he built his own house and lived for 55 years. Floyd had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. His greatest passion, however, was golf. He was an original member of Den Brae Golf Club, joining in 1958, and remaining an active and devoted member throughout his life. Floyd also gave back to his community by coaching Little League, Babe Ruth, and high school baseball for many years, sharing his love of the game with generations of young athletes.

Floyd is survived by his beloved wife, Terry (Wood) Colby; his sons, Craig Colby and his spouse Cheryl Colby, Randy Colby and Debra Shackett, and Scott Colby and his spouse Susan Colby; his cherished grandchildren, Evin, Reagan, Cameron, Lilly, Emma and Calvin; and his great-grandchildren, Everett and Bryson. He is also survived by his siblings, Calvin Colby, Donald Colby, Beryl Reid, Carol Holland and Bob Colby.

Floyd will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and for his strong work ethic, his love of the outdoors, and his dedication to his community.
