LOUDON — Eugene “Gene” Paul Morrissette, 76, entered into eternal rest Sunday June 11, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Gene was born in Laconia on Feb. 12, 1941, the son of Oscar and Rachel (Vallee) Morrissette.
Gene grew up and attended school in Laconia. As a teen, he enjoyed working for Weeks Dairy Farm in Laconia and worked for several years at Scott & Williams Company of Laconia and later at New Hampshire Ball Bearing of Laconia where he was an active supporter of the United Steel Workers of America. In addition Gene proudly served in the National Guard for several years.
Gene was strong-willed, friendly, outgoing and especially enjoyed conversations with family and friends. Very important to Gene were the annual family reunions that he held at his home with his wife, Bunny, who predeceased him.
Gene enjoyed telling stories, spending time clearing paths on his property and using his tractor to give the children and grandchildren enjoyable rides. Gene was a stamp collector, and enjoyed watching the Red Sox, Western movies, world events, and enjoyed his time camping in Pittsburg, New Hampshire. Most important to Gene was his family. He enjoyed going to breakfast, working outdoors, nature, animals and his pets that he loved dearly.
He is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Morrissette) LaPointe of Belmont; three sons, Danny Morrissette of Belmont, Gary Morrissette and his wife Catherine of Loudon, and Scott Morrissette and his wife Julianna of Sanbornton; a stepson, Robert Lord and his wife Lisa of Belmont; grandchildren, Shane Morrissette of Meredith, Joe Morrissette of Belmont, Amanda York and her husband Ronnie of Loudon, Ryan Morrissette and his wife Erin of Loudon, Travis and Kory Morrissette of Laconia, Tammy Wilcox of Loudon, Victoria Lord of Massachusetts, Amanda Longe-Deyo of Belmont; 10 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Ralph and his wife Mary of Franklin, and Bruce Morrissette and wife Irene of Tilton; and his sister, Corrine O’Mara of Laconia.
He was predeceased by his, brother, David Morrissette; his sister, Carol Campbell; his great-grandson, Shane Morrissette; and his loving wife, Bernice “Bunny” Lord.
Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia, using the Carriage House entrance. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Union Cemetery, Academy Street, Laconia.
