Dr. Norman R. Marquis, 82

 

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Dr. Norman R. Marquis, 82, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, at his home.

Norman was born in Laconia, New Hampshire, on Jan. 3, 1936, to the late Edward and Beatrice (Landry) Marquis. He received his bachelor's and master's derees from the University of New Hampshire and his Doctorate of Physiology from the University of Michigan. Norman then spent two years teaching at Harvard University while he pursued post-doctoral training. He enjoyed playing golf, bridge and singing in the church choir. Norman was a member of the Kennel Club and loved to travel.

Norman is survived by his wife, Kathy (Rhame) Marquis of Evansville; daughters, Norma Lee Roll (Jeremiah) of Evansville, and Karen Ann Warpenburg of Evansville; son, Mark Steven Marquis of Evansville; sister, Claire Moore (Tom) of Alton Bay, New Hampshire; grandchildren, Brandon Smith, D.J. Smith, Michael Helm, Kent Snyder, Kayla Warpenburg, Sean Warpenburg and Jessica Marquis; and five great-grandchildren.

Norman was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Marquis; first wife, Alice Sawyer Marquis; and his parents.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Old North United Methodist Church, 4201 Stringtown Road, Evansville, IN 47711, with the Rev. Michael Monahan officiating.
