David Richard Smith, age 66, of Andover, passed away peacefully on Nov. 4, 2024. Born on Dec. 2, 1957, in Burlington, Vermont, David lived a life full of adventure, love, and dedication to his family and passions.
David was a devoted companion to Sharon Lewis and a loving father to his daughter Brandy Smith of Burlington, Vermont, and son Justin Smith and his wife Kelly of Franklin. He leaves behind a close-knit family including his brothers, Clinton and his wife Kathy of Sanbornton, Douglas and his wife Roberta of Bristol, and Edward and his companion Katrina Gilpatrick of Franklin; and his sisters, Linda and her husband Sonny Pero of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Sandy and her husband David Lavalley of Concord, Roxanne Danforth of Andover, Lisa and her husband Dana Pearl of Belmont and Kimberly and her husband Brian "Turk" McDonald of Northfield. He also held his stepdaughters, Angela and her husband David Chase of Bristol, Alesa Dunn and her companion Shane of Dover, and stepson Billy Dunn of Bristol.
As a proud grandfather, David cherished his grandchildren, Ryan, Christopher, Jordan, Gavin, Nicky, Connor, and Jacob, who brought immense joy and laughter into his life and his close friend Susan McDonald of Franklin.
David was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Clinton D. Smith and Rita (Gadue) Smith, as well as his brother, Arthur "Skip" Smith and Sharon's parents, George and Muriel Joyce.
A hardworking and skilled craftsman, David was self-employed in the chimney installation and repair business, a testament to his strong work ethic and dedication to his trade. His professional life was complemented by a rich array of personal interests, particularly his love for playing darts, riding his motorcycle, and making annual journeys to Daytona Beach, Florida. David's love for animals and his special talent for hosting memorable holiday parties and gatherings brought people together and forever lit up his world and the world of those around him.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation at Smart Memorial Home in Tilton, from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8. A graveside service will follow at Franklin Cemetery in Franklin, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14. These services are lovingly arranged by Smart Memorial Home, smartmemorialhome.com.
David's warm spirit, infectious smile, and generous heart will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the honor to share in his journey.
