Cynthia Guild Kling, 91, died peacefully on Dec. 28, 2023.

She is survived by her sons Kurtis Kling of Starksboro, Vermont, and P. Chase Kling of Orford; her daughters Julie Kling of Holyoke, Massachusetts, and Peer Kling of San Antonito, Texas; and her brother Larry Guild of Laconia.

In addition to her family, she leaves behind a freezerful of her famous baked beans, but not the recipe.

Born on May 12, 1932, in Quincy, Massachusetts, to L.W. Guild and Rhea Colman Guild, she was predeceased by her parents, her sister Marcia Gibbs Guild, her former husband Peter Kling and her son-in-law James Ruzicka.

A longtime resident of Gilford, Cynthia belonged to the Gilford Community Church, the Gilford Historical Society, Gilford Outing Club, substitute taught in Gilford Elementary School, and among her many volunteer activities, she was active in Girl Scouts, Gilford Old Home Day, Winnipesaukee Yacht Club race committee and the NH Humane Society.

She will be remembered for her prolific oil painting and ski jumping coaching. She qualified in 1984 as the first woman FIS-certified ski jumping judge and participated in the Lake Placid and Sarajevo Olympics.

The family will remember Cynthia in a gathering in the spring after mud season.
