It is with a heavy heart that we announce the peaceful passing of Barbara Carlene Gahagan Stockton on Nov. 23, at the young age of 70. Barbara was a resident of Laconia, and formerly lived in Lincoln. She was born on Oct. 15, 1954, the daughter of Barbara L. Gahagan and Carl Hubert Gahagan Sr.

Barbara attended Lin-Wood High School and later went on to Plymouth State University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in science. Throughout her life, she worked in various fields, including as a teacher, gardener, waitress, manager, and at a nursing home. She loved being around people and helping those she met. Barbara enjoyed a wide range of hobbies, including sewing, painting, drawing, crocheting, and crafts. She also loved reading to pass the time.

Barbara cherished spending time with her children and stepchildren: Crystal Stockton, Laura Stockton, John Stockton, Chris Stockton, John Scott Stockton and Jessica Stockton. She also loved being with her grandchildren: Tegan, Sarah, Shyann, Derek, Eric, Tyler, Dilan and Jessy, along with her great-grandchild, Wesley. She was looking forward to welcoming another great-grandchild in the spring. Barbara also had many nieces and nephews that she loved and cherished.

She was predeceased by her parents, Barbara L. Gahagan and Carl Herbert Gahagan; her siblings, Patricia L. Gahagan "Merrill," Priscilla M. Strickland, and Carl (Butch) Gahagan; her niece, Nichole Ann Gahagan; nephew, Walter (Wally) Gahagan; uncles Ralph Gahagan and Walter Gahagan; and cousin, Ruthie Gulley.

A celebration of Barbara's life will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024, at the VFW Post 1670, located at 143 Court St., Laconia, with a potluck. Please join her family and friends to celebrate Barbara and share your memories.
