Arnold S. Foote Jr., 77, of 132 Seavey Rd., Belmont, died early Thursday morning, January 25, 2007, at his home.
He was born Oct. 13, 1929, in Laconia, the son of the late Arnold S. and Waver (Lampher) Foote Sr. He was a graduate of the Laconia school system and was a longtime resident of Belmont.
Arnold was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Germany. He was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Prior to his retirement in 1984, he was a civil servant for the Department of the Army.
Arnold had a love of genealogy, and was the Historian for the Amadon Family Genealogy Society.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Edith (Daugardt) Foote of Belmont; a son, John A. Foote of Concord; a daughter, Anna M. Estes of Newfield, Maine; four grandchildren, Christopher F. Estes and Eliza M. Estes, both of Newfield, Maine, and John A. Foote Jr. and Christina J. Foote both of Concord. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and was predeceased by a brother, Sheldon Foote of Weirs Beach.
There are no calling hours. Friends and relatives are invited to attend services on Thursday, Feb. 1, at 11 a.m., in the Chapel of the N.H. State Veterans Cemetery, Route 3, Boscawen, with the Rev. Michael C. Graham, pastor of the Gilford Community Church, officiating.
