Anne Lois Carter, 88, passed away Jan. 18, 2025, at Concord Hospital in Concord.
Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, on Jan. 4, 1937, to the late Frank H. and Jeanette (Duquette) Carter, Anne also was sister to the late Frank L. Carter, all lifelong Indian Orchard residents.
Anne is survived by her brother’s children, Peter Carter and his wife Lisa of Fort Mitchell, Kentucky; Lisa A. Carter of Ludlow, Massachusetts; Jason Carter and his wife Jennifer of Nashville, Tennessee, and their daughter Stella Rose; David Carter of Indian Orchard; and Martha Carter, the mother of her nephews Jason and David; as well as many other family members and friends. Anne was also survived by her closest friend and roommate of over 50 years, Carol LeBlanc of Meredith.
Anne was a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph from 1965 to 1975, and an artist by training, obtaining her graduate degree in teaching at Central Connecticut State College. Anne had a lifelong career as an art and English teacher at St Joseph’s Elementary School and the Lynn public school system, both located in Lynn, Massachusetts, where she lived for many years. Anne was a faithful communicate of St. Pius Parish in Lynn, Massachusetts, and St. Charles Parish in Meredith.
Upon her retirement from teaching, Anne moved permanently to Meredith, and spent many years as a snowbird with her best friend Carol at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Funeral services for Anne will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, assembling at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church located at 300 Route 25, Meredith. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Interment of her remains will be overseen by Rev. Dailey of St. Michaels Cathedral and held at 11 a.m. the following Monday, March 24, at St. Aloysius Cemetery, 1273 Berkshire Ave., Springfield, Massachusetts.
