LACONIA — Get ready to groove on Saturday, Oct. 25, as the popular entertainment quartet The Jersey Tenors returns to the Lakes Region for a concert to benefit the Meredith Altrusa Club.

Hosted by the We Care initiative of Temple B’nai Israel, this one-night-only event will feature their brand-new show, “The Ultimate Tribute to the ‘70s.” Prepare to be transported back to the “Age of Aquarius” for a night of ‘70s nostalgia with a high-energy show celebrating iconic artists like Elton John, The Bee Gees, and Creedance Clearwater Revival.

The Jersey Tenors are known for their dynamic voices and captivating performance style. For a sneak peek, you can watch a performance here:  tbinh.org/we-care-concerts.

The concert will take place at the Inter-Lakes High School Community Auditorium, located at 1 Laker Lane in Meredith on Saturday, Oct. 25, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available online and at select retail locations in the Lakes Region. Those unable to attend can show support by purchasing tickets to be donated to senior citizens who are served by the Meredith Altrusa Club.

The We Care initiative has been “Lending a Helping Hand to Lakes Region Non-Profits” since 2013, raising more than $400,000 for various local agencies. We Care provides a ready-made fundraising platform for local nonprofits, allowing them to focus on their mission.

The Altrusa Club of Meredith has been active in the Lakes Region for 45 years — providing kindergarten welcome bags to four local schools, file of life packets to the elderly or those with any medical conditions, and non-traditional scholarships to applicants at least 23 years of age looking to improve their job qualifications or further their education.

Hands on work includes reading to students at local day care centers and delivering library books to the homebound for the Meredith Library. Literacy is part of the organization’s mission — offering free books at Hands Across the Table and various other venues.

Members also offer a free meal and social time once a month at the Meredith Community Center. Three years ago, they started offering a “take out meal” to families of Interlake’s Elementary School students. They serve an average of 140  “to go meals” and 30-40 in house meals each month.

The organization’s most recent project is the Snack Shack at the Interlake’s Elementary School and Sandwich Elementary School. Members provide snacks for the students who sometimes forget to bring one.
