PLYMOUTH — The Pemigewasset Choral Society will soon begin weekly rehearsals at Plymouth State University for its upcoming December concert series. New singers are welcome. Singers must be able to sing in tune, match pitch, and blend with the chorus in terms of volume and vocal quality. The first rehearsal is Monday, Aug. 31, at the Silver Center for Performing Arts, with registration and music distribution beginning at 6:15 p.m.

Rehearsals are Monday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m., with optional sectional rehearsals that start at 6:30 p.m. (starting in September). The first three rehearsals may be attended without obligation to determine if the chorus is a good fit. Semester dues, which help cover music purchases, are payable at registration or no later than the third rehearsal. (Note: There is no rehearsal on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7.)

The December 2026 concert performances take place on Thursday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. (Gilford Community Church); Friday, Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. (Inter-Lakes Middle High School in Meredith); and Sunday, Dec. 6 at 3 p.m. (Plymouth State University).

The December concert series will include Benjamin Britten's "A Ceremony of Carols," as well as other traditional holiday-themed selections.

The chorus is directed by award-winning music teacher and choral director Will Gunn and accompanied by collaborative pianist Abigail Charbeneau. Gunn's most recent engagement was as guest conductor at the New Hampshire Music Festival in a July performance of "Illuminare" by Elaine Hagenberg.

The Pemi Chorus, now in its 53rd year, is a regional community chorus based in Plymouth with a wide-ranging musical repertoire. Members come from more than 30 communities throughout the Lakes Region and White Mountains. Membership is currently over 90 members with a diverse range of ages from high school students to age 80 and up.
