LACONIA — Powerhouse Theatre Collaborative and Spectacle Live team up again in 2026 for “Just Duet: Broadway Style,” a fundraising competition to benefit Powerhouse programming and the Colonial Theatre Advancement Fund. First it needs talented duos to audition to be contestants in this year’s event.
Each duo performs an uptempo and ballad musical theater song to earn votes from the audience and points from the judges. To audition, contestants must simply find a partner, register on the Powerhouse auditions page, and suggest three songs they are interested in singing in each category for the producers to choose from. Then upload a video of the team singing one of the songs into the registration form. All the information and registration form can be found at powerhousenh.org/auditions and registrations are due by Thursday, Jan. 15.
Three time champions Laura and Joel Iwaskiewicz will perform this year as emcees instead of contestants so a new champion will be crowned.
All contestants win prizes such as gift certificates to local businesses and restaurants. The show will be on Saturday, March 21, at 7 p.m., and tickets will be available soon on the Colonial Theatre’s website, coloniallaconia.com.
Last year’s competition had a new twist in that each team was allowed to pull in a ringer to make a trio for one of their songs. That option is still available, and this year’s twist is the “Super Team” option where two participating duos can team up on one song to sing a quartet.
Powerhouse Producer Bryan Halperin said, “Just Duet has always been a really fun way to let people get onto the Colonial stage performing songs of their choosing with their favorite musical partner. The audience has a blast voting and we are happy to raise money to help with the upkeep of and improvements to the Colonial Theatre.”
