LACONIA — Partnership for Public Health hosted its first Masquerade Ball fundraising event at the historic Lakeport Opera House on Sept. 12, raising $5,000 to support community health initiatives.

The elegant evening drew attendees who truly “got the assignment,” arriving in stunning couture and elaborate masks to participate in an interactive murder mystery performance presented by the Boston Murder Mystery Company, as seen on “Shark Tank.” Guests were fully immersed in the theatrical experience, which culminated in the dramatic reveal of one local attendee as the lead murderer in the evening's intricate plot.

A portion of the proceeds will support upcoming youth substance misuse prevention programs, including Red Ribbon Week activities. Red Ribbon Week, the nation's oldest and largest drug prevention program, will be observed Oct. 23-31, with this year's theme “Life Is A Puzzle, Solve It Drug Free.”

“This event exceeded our expectations,” said CEO of the Partnership for Public Health Tammy Carmichael. “We raised essential funds, but more importantly, we created moments of connection and joy that show just how much stronger we are as a community — because we are better together.”

Beyond the featured interactive murder mystery, the evening offered guests a truly elevated experience — complete with a beautifully curated grazing table by Abundantly Yours Catering, a lively raffle hosted by Miss Lake Winnipesaukee and Miss Liberty, and plenty of opportunities to mingle and connect.

Partnership for Public Health plans to make this an annual event, with plans to expand and enhance the experience in future years.
