LACONIA — Dr. Alexander Hennig joined Concord Hospital Orthopaedics–Laconia in February.

Hennig is board-certified in orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine. Most recently, he has been practicing at Advanced Orthopedics in Gilford — an affiliate of Frisbie Memorial Hospital. Hennig specializes in arthroscopic and open treatment of conditions and injuries, involving the shoulder, elbow, knee, hip and ankle. His other interests include rotator cuff repair, shoulder instability, knee ligament reconstruction, meniscus and cartilage repair as well as fracture care.

Bill Dooley, vice president of operations and chief administrative officer for Concord Hospital Medical Group, said, “He is a well-respected surgeon with an extensive background in sports medicine and arthroscopy, complementing the various types of treatment offered to our patients in the Lakes Region.”

Hennig is a graduate of the University of Vermont College of Medicine, where he also completed his residency in the department of orthopaedics and rehabilitation. He completed his fellowship in sports medicine at New England Baptist Hospital and Children's Hospital in Boston, where he served as team physician for the Boston Celtics and Northeastern University.

A resident of the Lakes Region, Hennig is a physician for the United States Ski and Snowboard teams and is a consultant physician for many local athletic organizations and schools. He is a fellow of the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons and an active member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine.
