New Hampshire Community Technical College-Laconia Accounting/Business Management Honor Student, Russell Weeks of Meredith, takes the reins of the College’s international honor society. Serving as Phi Theta Kappa, Alpha Chi Epsilon Chapter Vice President last year, Weeks is well prepared for the top position for the academic year just starting.

Weeks, a self-declared “workaholic,” hasn’t worked less than a 60-hour work week in the past three years. Yet he always manages to get everything done. “The big joke at Laconia High School (where he works full-time as Second-Shift Custodian) is that I’m the ‘go-to’ guy,” says Weeks. “If LHS needs a slot filled, it seems like I’m the one to fill it.”

Weeks runs LHS’s In-School Suspension the days he doesn’t have college classes and has now been hired as LHS’s new Webmaster. “Whatever job I have had, even if a short time, I have always ended up taking charge.”

When Weeks was in high school, he was always smart enough, almost to the point of being bored. “I didn’t do much in high school and just coasted through,” Weeks admitted. “Then I enjoyed my years in the Navy, got the GI Bill, and now I do quite well in college.”

When asked what he would like to accomplish as PTK President, Weeks was quite clear. “I definitely want to work more closely with the American Cancer Society this year and to streamline the honor society. Increasing the membership is a high priority and a bit more formality is something I would like as well. PTK’s Five-Star Status is a final goal to achieve.”

Weeks plans to continue for the Bachelor’s Degree at Plymouth State University in Business Administration after graduating with dual NHCTC Laconia degrees this year. He then plans to open his own hotel or bed and breakfast and complete his Master’s Degree part-time.
