LACONIA — Genesis Behavioral Health and Navigating Recovery of the Lakes Region will be sponsoring a Veterans Law Clinic on Friday, April 14. The clinic will be held in the offices of Navigating Recovery of the Lakes Region, located at 635 Main St., Suite 303 (third floor via elevator), Laconia. The clinic will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The clinic will feature assistance from both the Division of Child Support Services and attorney Larry Vogelman. These services are provided at no cost to the veteran or their family.
Representatives from the Division of Child Support Services will be present to answer questions and assist veterans with their child support needs. DCSS has recently established the Child Support Outreach to Military Families task force in an effort to strengthen and rebuild military members' and veterans' relationships with their families.
Services offered by DCSS include: locating individuals, establishing paternity, obtaining and enforcing support orders, and reviewing and adjusting support orders, if at least three years have passed since the date of the most recent order or last review, or there has been a substantial change in circumstances. The DCSS team looks forward to meeting with veterans at this event on April 14.
Larry Vogelman is a partner with Nixon, Vogelman, Barry, Slawsky, Simoneau and a founder of the Veterans Law Project-Legal Boots on the Ground. He can provide consultation in the areas of criminal law, civil rights, personal injury and employment. Larry's main focus will be to support the veterans who are coming in to see the Division of Child Support Services.
Appointments are preferred for this event and DCSS will set up meetings every 30 minutes starting at 11 a.m. with the last appointment starting at 4 p.m. Vogelman will be available for consultation if necessary.
Referrals are being solicited from the VA's Veterans Justice Outreach program and from Easterseals New Hampshire. Other veterans who are interested in attending this program should contact Ed Drury, the military liaison at Genesis Behavioral Health to preregister. Drury can be contacted at 524-1100, ext. 157, or via email at eddrury@genesisbh.org.
