Singer and songwriter Chrissy Coughlin will perform the season's final "Thursday at Sunset" series at Castle in the Clouds on September 25. This will be a musical finale of the popular performances on the Castle patio that have attracted locals as well as summer visitors.
A favorite New York night club performer, Coughlin will perform renditions of pop hits, smooth ballads, folk-rock and her own compositions. General Manager Jim Cande noted "Music Connection magazine wrote that Chrissy's style was reminiscent of Natalie Merchant and Sheryl Crow," two of the most popular and durable of today's singer-songwriters.
Coughlin will be accompanied by her band featuring Andy Kustas, Mike Chatigny, Peter Dudisco, and Nick Charlegio. Her concert at the Castle will mark her first appearance in New Hampshire in almost two years when she performed at the Wolfeboro Fall Folk Festival. Her ties to the area run deep, as she has summered all her life on Lake Winnipesaukee.
The show promises to be informal and fun beginning with refreshments available on the patio with its panoramic view of Winnipesaukee or by a warm fire in the Carriage House, depending on the weather. All attending will be then move to the second floor Lucknow Room for the performance, relaxing at tables in supper club fashion. In addition to requesting songs, music lovers will also be able to request some of Castle Chef Bill Schulte's creations during the performance.
Coughlin will perform at the Carriage House from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. No reservations are necessary, and groups are welcome to sit together for the evening. Attendees are welcome to just drive through the Castle's front entrance on Rt. 171, which will be open; admission of $15 per person will be collected at the Carriage House.
The Castle's next big event will be the 3rd Annual Fall Foliage Festival, starting at 10 a.m., Sunday, October 5th. Details of all events are on the website at www.castleintheclouds.org.
